Former Topeka residents Mark and Mary Beth Chambers are the owners of Wichita-based Chile Slinger, LLC.
What is your business and how long have you been in business? Chile Slinger is in its fifth year of selling our Kansas-made BBQ sauces and rubs. We started selling at farmers markets in the Wichita area; we continue to do that, but have branched out to craft shows and community festivals, and also are on many retail shelves in Kansas and Missouri.
What makes your product unique? Chile Slinger sauces and rubs are all-natural, glutten-free and are made without high fructose corn syrup, setting us apart from most all other sauces and rubs on the market. All are products are the result of Mark's years-long efforts to create flavorful sauces and rubs while barbecuing for family and friends.
What is your favorite product you offer? Our Chipotle BBQ sauce is our best seller, offering a nice, spicy bite. We entered it in the BBQ sauce competition that is part of the Kansas City American Royal a few years ago and was proud that it placed 17th among more than 100 sauces in its category.
What types of products will you offer at Cider Days? We will have at least three flavors of BBQ sauce -- mild Original, spicy Chipotle, and hot Habanero -- and one all-purpose seasoning rub. It is possible that we'll debut a new flavor of sauce and rub at Cider Days.
